"Purchase Regional Park Megasite"

Following many years of hard work by many in the region, the Purchase Regional Industrial Park has won certification as a Megasite for economic development. President and CEO Bill Beasley said the designation draws international and national attention to the park, which is being positioned to draw at least one “mega” employer for western Kentucky.

The Park, which is a joint partnership between the 8 Purchase counties and Massac County, is comprised of 2,200 acres on the Graves and McCracken County lines. Beasley says the minimum parcel size offered is 1,000 acres that has the promise of 1,000 jobs. This means the park is targeting its marketing efforts toward automakers, alternative energy companies, food and beverage makers, distributors of materials and makers of primary or fabricated metals.

The site has a lot going for it. The park is 100% owned by the Authority, it has unparalleled rail access and a workforce of more than 433,000 within a 70 mile radius. This is in addition to millions in infrastructure made possible by federal and state grants and bonds. This makes the park, “project ready.”

Beasley said the kind of mega employer the park hopes to attract wants to know three things: “Do you have the workforce? Are you ready? “What can you give us?”

Beasley says the park is currently focused on refining its marketing plan to target specific companies, continue its infrastructure engineering projects so the park’s board can be ready to “close the deal” when one comes along.
