"The Paducah Symphony Children’s Chorus"

Dr. Bradley L. Almquist, Director of Choruses

Dr. Amy Aucoin, Youth Chorus Director

Mrs. Devonda Treece, Accompanist

The Paducah Symphony Orchestra expanded its educational opportunities in the 1990’s with the addition of a Children’s Chorus (4th through 7th graders). Since then the chorus has expanded to include singers in grades 3-10 in two choirs. The young singers, who must audition to be accepted in the group, have twice toured Europe and have sung at a variety of Kentucky locations, including an appearance at a recent Kentucky Music Educators Association conference. The chorus members are from ten counties in Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois. The Children’s Chorus performed at the Inauguration of Kentucky’s Governor on December 11, 2007. Dr. Almquist has been Director of the Paducah Symphony Chorus since 1997 and Children’s Chorus since 2004. If you are interested in joining this ensemble or attending performances, please contact the Paducah Symphony at 270.444.0065.

The mission of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is to bring the enjoyment and rewards of great music to increasing and diverse numbers of citizens of the region.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Head Ding-a-ling Hal Sullivan reported on the success of our bell ringing and club kettle donations. With cold windy gusts impacting shoppers it was a tough day for bell ringers and shoppers alike, however as Bill always said, the worse the weather the better we seem to do. Bill is still right. Our Kettle for the day was one of the best Salvation Army had at $4,379. Our Kettle added another $4,850 to make a current total of $9,230 but you can still make donations and the total is still adding up. You can make checks to Salvation Army with Rotary Club in Memo and Attention to Nick Garrison.
