ROTARY CLUB OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
Roberts said it could be costly to adopt a child from another country because of high upfront fees. The adoption fund can help with those costs, in addition to the advice the ministry can give in navigating the process. Family members can also set up an adoption account for those hoping to adopt. While she says 40% have considered adoption only 2% are able to do so. Roberts and others returned last week from El Salvador where 150 children were displaced by a recent mudslide. Recently, two area families have adopted children from El Salvador. Kijsa Housman, a local artist with a gallery in Lowertown, sponsored an ornament design competition. Local children submitted designs for the ornament, which are now on sale to benefit the ministry. The Ornaments are available at Owen Cleaners for $10.
