"MSU
Racer Football"
Football
season may be months away, but MSU Football coach, Matt Griffin,
said he's only a week and a half away from spring practice after signing
ten new players to the Racers last month. The group of incoming players
includes four linebackers, two offensive lineman, one cornerback,
one running back, one quarterback and one tight end.
Coach Griffin is known
for stressing academics, as well as football and says that he
"has a great group of kids" this year. The team has an average
2.7 GPA and the majority of his seniors are on track to graduate.
The team finished up 5-7
last season, mainly due to the Defensive team allowing too many takeaways,
which he hopes to correct this year. Coach Griffin predicts the Racers
will rank in the top third of the OVC.
He also says he's considering
scheduling a scrimmage game at Paducah Tilghman this year to connect
with the large number of MSU alumni who live in McCracken County and
generate some excitement for the upcoming season.
The Racers kick off their
OVC games on September 26th against Eastern Kentucky. For the full
season schedule and more information on MSU football visit goRacers.com.
