"The
Paducah Parks Department"
Trace Stevens, Athletics and
Aquatics Supervisor, Paducah Parks Department
Trace Stevens, a lifelong resident
of Paducah and 1989 Murray State University graduate, is dedicated
to making our community a better place to live and play in his role
as Athletics and Aquatics Supervisor for the Paducah Parks Department.
The Paducah Parks Department, funded
by the City of Paducah, has a staff of 7 professionals that oversee
the City's 17 parks, a variety of sports leagues and educational activities,
swimming pools, and athletic fields.
2008-2009 Completed Projects: In
2008-2009, the Parks Department completed a number of major projects,
including the completion of Phase I of the Greenway Trail (from Noble
Park to Stuart Nelson Park), upgrades to restrooms and safety resurfacing
of Noble Park facilities, and infield renovation and shelter roof
and bench replacement in Stuart Nelson Park.
Upcoming Projects: During the
remainder of this year and in the days to come, the Parks Department
will focus its attentions on the Seasonal Ice Rink, moving its administrative
offices to the former National Guard Armory across from Noble Park,
Greenway Trail Phases II & III, and building the accessible playground
in Noble Park. Plans also include the installation of security cameras
in Noble Park.
The Ice Skating Rink will be built
at 121 Jefferson, in the downtown Farmer's Market Parking Lot. The
rink will be open from November 15, 2008 through January 5, 2009,
and will be available for public skating as well as reserved private
parties and celebrations. For more information on making a reservation,
please contact the Parks Department at 270.444.8508.
