ROTARY CLUB OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
What keeps Paducah's Barbecue on the River going? According to festival co-coordinator David Boggs, it's P.I.G.S. "Paducah's Incredible Generous Spirit." Barbecue on the River is now in its 15th year and is the largest annual fundraiser for many area charities, such as the Red Cross, the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, the Easter Seals Center and more than 70 others. New additions to the 2009 festival include: Porkstock: A one-night event that will kick off the festival on Wednesday, September 23rd at 5:07 pm at the main city parking lot featuring five local bands and commemorating the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. General admission tickets are $10 and VIP tables for 10 can be reserved for $500. Satellite Parking: Shuttles will transport festival-goers from Carson Park to the Barbecue on the River site beginning on Thursday at 4 pm. Beer and Wine Garden: Wine has been added to the menu at the PSO Beer Garden this year. BBQ Fan Club: Fans of smoked meat can join a dues paying club. Membership privileges include a car magnet, quarterly newsletter and a bbq judging school. Boggs quizzed the Club on some BBQ Fun Facts: How many tons of meat was served last year? 60 tons How many charities participated last year?
