Rotarians In Service

Eradicating Polio - In 1985, Rotary International launched a campaign, PolioPlus, to eradicate Polio and other infectious diseases throughout the world by 2005, Rotary's 100th Anniversary. Paducah Rotarians accepted the challenge to raise $15,000 and by 1988 surpassed this challenge by raising $47,000. To date $438 million has been invested by Rotary International, and Polio has decreased 99% throughout the world.

Raising Funds for Rotary Education Assistance Program (R.E.A.P.) - R.E.A.P. is a unique program which provides loans and grants to those students in Paducah and McCracken County who do not qualify for other financial aid. Funds are raised by Rotarian donations, memorial gifts, and the proceeds from the annual Rotary Antique Quilt Show. In 1989, Paducah Rotary began holding this show in conjuction with the annual American Quilters' Society Quilt Show. Since 1989, more than $556,000 has been invested in REAP scholarships.

Providing Community Support - Since 1915, Paducah Rotarians have given an unbelievable amount of financial support to this community and to the world. Organizations which have been recipients of Rotary charity and community serivce donations are: Boy/Girl Scouts, Family Serivces, St. Nicholas Clinic, Paducah Day Nursery, UK/PCC Engineering School, Challenger Learning Center, 4-H, Maiden Alley Cinema, River Heritage Museum, and others.
